This year’s Christmas event comes with a difference, in these extraordinary circumstances of 2020 – in the form of a wonderful online performance by two young, talented professional musicians, featuring three dramatic Vedic Hymns by Holst, and some beautiful Christmas music arranged and set by Holst, and his great friend, Vaughan Williams.
It has been recorded in the spectacular location of the St Pancras Clock Tower in London, a Victorian Gothic creation of famous architect George Gilbert Scott, which was formerly part of the Midlands Grand Hotel he designed.
We express our thanks to Peter and Matthew for their recorded performance, and hope that we can welcome them to Cheltenham sometime in 2021 for a live concert.
We are most grateful to Brewin Dolphin, wealth management company, for their generous sponsorship of this recording, but to raise funds for the Museum we invite you to purchase your ‘ticket’ to view it online via the link under the preview below. The price is £5 but with options to make a further donation after purchase should you wish. On completing your purchase, you will be sent an email with an exclusive link to the 20 minute recording, which will remain online until the end of the January for you to view as many times as you wish.
Here is a short preview of the video
We hope you will enjoy this offering and on behalf of the Holst Birthplace Trust, wish you all a Merry Christmas and, as we all hope, a better and Happy New Year in 2021!
