BEEF STEW AND DUMPLINGS – A VICTORIAN DINNER. ONLINE
SATURDAY, 27TH FEBRUARY AT 7PM
Another opportunity to join the Holst Birthplace Museum and friends for a lockdown diversion, and this time with the chance for a non-virtual experience!
The Victorian era was an age of rebirth in the kitchen; a revolution in stoves, cookware and gadgets, combined with the discovery of canning and food sterilization techniques opened up endless possibilities for the cook.
Lits, our resident food and wine expert, who has entertained and informed us so enjoyably during lockdown, will guide us through how these exciting developments have influenced our meal times today…over a delicious traditional dish of beef stew and dumplings.
Tickets to attend Lits’ online talk are available via Eventbrite for £5 plus booking fee here, but there is also the opportunity to enjoy this traditional dish for real, courtesy of the Kemble Brewery Inn, to eat during the talk or at a time of your choosing! Please visit the Kemble Brewery Inn Facebook page where you can see the menu and details of how to order, from Monday 22nd February onwards. The meals can be picked up from the Kemble (27, Fairview Street, Cheltenham) between 4-6pm on Saturday 27th, or can be delivered in the local area if you are shielding. The cost of the Beef and Dumplings is £10, £1 of which will be donated to the Museum, and should be paid directly to the Kemble.
Alternatively, you may wish to cook the meal yourselves – we can provide the recipe!
As before, the Zoom link for Lits’ talk will be included in the confirmation email you receive from Eventbrite, both at the bottom of the email and in the tickets attachment. (NB if for any reason you do not receive the email shortly after booking, please check your Spam/Junk box and if not there, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and you can be sent the link).
